37th European Athletics Indoor Championships started with the opening ceremony.
The opening speech of the European Athletics Indoor Championships was given by Republic of Türkiye, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu.
Stating that they will come out of the process Turkey is going through due to earthquake disasters, Kasapoğlu said, “We are in a lot of pain. Together, we will overcome this disaster we are experiencing with unity and strong solidarity. I would like to express my gratitude to the people who have contributed to this joint effort both with their support and personally in the field from the first moment.”
Underlining that the European Athletics Indoor Championships is a huge organization, Minister said, “Today, we are inaugurating one of the most meaningful organizations in sports. The Fair-Play spirit rising from here will send a very strong message. The European Athletics Indoor Championships is the first multinational organization of the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We host 593 athletes from 47 countries. I sincerely congratulate everyone who contributed to this hosting.”
